Cherry Winks ;)

My Mom, my Sister, my Daughter & I made these at Christmas time so we used red & green cherries, but these would also be great for your honey on Valentine's Day...This is my Grandma's recipe & she insists that she received many marriage proposals because of these cookies :)

What you need:

2 1/4 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup softened butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup chopped dates
1/3 cup chopped maraschino cherries
2 2/3 cups crushed corn flakes
15 maraschino cherries cut into quarters

Stir together flour, baking powder & salt...set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, beat together butter & sugar until light & fluffy.

Add eggs (minus bits of shell, of course), beat well.

stir in vanilla & milk, add flour mixture, mix until well combined.

Stir in nuts, dates & chopped cherries.

Use a measuring tablespoon to drop into bowl of crushed cornflakes.

Roll in crushed cornflakes...

Top each with a cherry quarter.

Bake at 375 for about 10 minutes.

Makes about 5 dozen.

Enjoy! ;)

Tip:  Be sure to either eat these right away or keep them sealed up tight so the cornflakes don't get stale!

It's Another Girl :)

Monday's Child is Fair of Face...

So the doctor broke my water at 8:18 a.m. on Monday, November 21 (5 days past my due date) & we welcomed our beautiful baby girl, Nova Gail, to our world exactly 7 1/2 hours later...We named her "Nova" after my husband's paternal great-grandfather & "Gail" after his maternal grandfather...Not often you can give a little girl 2 grandfather names :) And of course "Nova" also means bright star & "Gail" means merry & lively...She is such a sweet baby & our little Paven has been a wonderful Big Sister, I'm so proud of her...We are so blessed ♥

I'm Back :)

Sooo, I haven't posted anything for awhile...Not sure where the last several months have gone?  I turned 32 this week, we're having our second child in less than a month...Seems like we've had to redo our entire 2-bedroom house (which is never "done" anyway) to make room for one tiny little baby...Our bedroom looks amazing, but there are a few little things that need finished before I can take "after" pics...The girls' bedroom (if we're having another girl, that is) is getting there...Then there's my office that is now being transformed into a playroom...It makes me a little sad to give up my office, but it had pretty much become a dumping ground for toys & everybody else's stuff anyway...Here's some cool new stuff I'm looking forward to finding a place for :)

My friend Jessica of Jessica Jill Photography took some family pics of us over the summer...She did an amazing job...I'm about 5 months pregnant here, there's just something about this one that I love, I ordered a 16X24 mounted print of it :)

Some old window frames that I found...Before

& After...Haven't filled the big one yet...These are hanging in the girls' bedroom for now, but I haven't found just the right spot for them...All of these prints can be purchased at Redbubble :)

I went shopping on my birthday & found some good deals at T.J. Maxx, one of my favorite places to shop :) 3 ottomans for $28 & 2 awesome pillows for $22...It was a good day :)
